Written and Directed by Gerard Michael MacCarthy, this Russian language film is set in 1990’s St.Petersburg where 11 year old Micha Orlov daydreams about encountering his TV hero, Vitya Borodin aka ‘The Assassin’ (Igor Kostolevsky). Walking home from school, he sees the ‘The Assassin’s’ car following it into the mysterious world of ‘Lenfilm’ studio where he meets various characters (Andrey Urgant, Inga Ilm) who help fantasy and reality blur. Eventually, Micha’s mother, Yuliya, also gets drawn into the ‘dream factory’ – a fact in itself which changes Micha’s life forever…

‘A beautiful first feature. The film’s outstanding success is its visual style; it achieves some haunting visual imagery clearly influenced by Tarkovsky. That reference is intended as a compliment.’ The Irish Times.
