Festival-2008
The film’s scriptwriter Mark Doherty, plays an out of work actor whose life couldn’t get any worse. He spends his days trying to coerce his best friend Pierce to pen that “epic” movie that will propel them both to stardom. Pierce is a gabby, shiftless, arrogant lay-about played by acclaimed Irish comedian Dylan Moran. He’s also an alcoholic gambler who, along with Mark, is only capable of wasting away his life talking about something, instead of doing it. When Mark gets rejected from yet another audition, he realizes he’s hit rock bottom, and that things can’t get any worse…or so he thinks.
Touted as a cross between dark comedy Shallow Grave and British Cult Classic Withnail and I, A film With Me in It, has a wonky, surreal logic which is hilariously absurd, and a cruelty which is admirably merciless. The perfectly pitched chemistry and comfort between the two leads, Mark O’Doherty and Dylan Moran is the film’s greatest success and reason this film is fast becoming a cult classic in its own right.
