Michael Colins
1996
His dreams inspired hope. His
words inspired passion. His courage forged a
nation's destiny
The bloody Easter rebellion of 1916, the War of
Independence, the Civil War and the birth of the
modern Irish Republic are all covered in this
sweeping historical epic tale of passion and
destiny. It is the true story of MICHAEL
COLLINS, a founder-member of the IRA whose
appalling, but inarguably successful guerrilla
tactics brought freedom from British rule.
Played by Liam Neeson, Collins is the 'Lion of
Ireland', founder of the Irish Free State in
1921. Aidan Quinn plays his longtime friend
Harry, and Julia Roberts is Katie, the woman
they both love. Director Neil Jordan staged most
of the action at the actual locations in Ireland
resulting in is a film that is both historically
evocative and stunningly beautiful. |
